ECONOMICS CAREER EXPLORATION WEBQUEST
INTRODUCTION
As part of the required work to be completed in Regular Economics, students will complete a career booklet and specific personal finance tasks. The Economics Career Exploration Web Quest will give a student an opportunity to search for career information on the Internet. The purpose of the project is to help twelfth graders make well-informed career decisions before finishing their last year of high school.
TASK
Students will create a booklet about a career/occupation they might pursue when they enter the civilian labor force. The booklet or presentation will include specific personal finance tasks they will have completed as they go through the process steps in this Web Quest. The booklet will contain each of the following:
· Cover sheet with a title, student's name, due date, and a picture or graphic
· A description of the career/occupation and the current labor market situation
· A minimum one page autobiography including the student's personal interests and goals
· A personal future budget
· Bibliography
· Pictures and graphics

PROCESS
The following steps must be completed in order to finalize the Web Quest and make the booklet.
Research
1. Use the link State of Tennessee Department of Labor to look at career demographics and labor market information. Fill out the worksheet entitled Our Labor Market.
2. Use the link State of Tennessee Department of Labor to look at and compare three occupations. Fill out the worksheet entitled Occupation Comparison.
3. Use the link Decision-Making and fill in the decision-making matrix 'Choosing A Career.'
4. Under Resources go to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the UT Knoxville Career Database, and the State of Tennessee Department of Labor. Look up the career you are researching and gather information for your booklet.
5. Use the link Salary.com or State of Tennessee Department of Labor to find salary information about the career you are researching. Fill out the worksheet Budget Questionnaire.

· Put your booklet together in the order it was written (title page, autobiography and goals, occupation summary, future personal budget, bibliography).

· Fill out the questionnaire Post Analysis after you have completed this project.
